Hattie Elliot: Defeating AIDS One Pup at a Time...

Hattie Elliot loves dogs. She also loves South Africa. She soon began to wonder how to combine both her passions.
How about creating dog accessories, and donating the profits from sales to charity?

Sounds like UBUNTU to us. In order to make this happen, she launched SOCOCO, a small business that imports fashionable dog collars made by South African artisans. The profits from the sales of these accessories go to BAPHUMELELE Children's Home, an orphanage that cares for the sons and daughters of AIDS victims.
So, if you're going to be purchasing stuff for your pup this season, why not help those in need at the same time?

NOTE: We know we can be pushy sometimes. And we know that while Hattie is persistent, she doesn't strike us as the pushy type. Perhaps that's why--although she founded the company--she has stepped aside and allowed someone a bit more stubborn and determined to become president of the company. If her story has failed to persuade you to buy and help, perhaps the President and CEO of SOCOCO, Ms. Gilles Elliot, can make the case for this charitable cause...

You can keep your pet smilin', stylin' and profilin' and help Baphumelele by purchasing collars from the Good Dog, Good Karma collection at the SOCOCO store. To find out more about Hattie and about the entrepreneurial spirit of South African women, check her interview out at LadiesWhoLaunch.com.
